She has the brightest of smiles and the warmest of hearts. One might assume that 17 year old Neethi had a memorable childhood, and maybe she did until that unfortunate day when a 15 year old was abused and raped, humiliated and stripped of her dignity. Having no knowledge of the unimaginable act done against her, she kept mum as she was taught to. If not, her feelings would be invalidated and her humiliation would be mocked at. She was a girl after all. She was taught to comply. With her health deteriorating and feelings of guilt and worthlessness accompanying her, matters were taken into serious consideration only during the seventh month of her pregnancy. Too late for a medical termination, she had a healthy baby boy two months later. A child herself, she was separated from her child who was put up for adoption. She still misses her child, she still is haunted by that incident and yet she has the brightest of smiles and the warmest of hearts.
