Rushing to school and from school to dedicate time for household chores was the routine of 15 year old Navya. Like most children in her neighborhood who played with each other, Navya never experienced this joy. Instead, what she did experience was violence among her alcoholic parents. While her coolie worker parents struggled to provide their daughter with a decent education, Navya struggled to gain what she required more than an education- the love and attention of her parents. Hopeless, lost and having no where to go, she naturally sought refuge in an unhealthy relationship. A minor, unaware of the consequences of her impulsive actions, her life was at risk from the constant threats of her mother when the affair was brought to light. In safe hands now at Inchara Home for Children, Navya receives the love, care and attention she was always deprived of. This is her second lease of life which she values beyond words. A studious, talented and hard working child, she desires to become an Engineer some day. When asked why, Navya smiles wide and says, “I want to do something for society.” We believe she surely can.
Inchara Foundation, a registered non-profit organisation is primarily focusing on girls (children & adolescents) who are victims of sexual abuse, helping them with rehabilitation process, trauma counselling and skill development activities for self dependency.
